As Chairman of the Motor Vehicles and Public Safety Subcommittee, Tom is committed to keeping South Carolina communities safe and ensuring law enforcement and first responders have the resources they need.

Tom supported pay increases for state law enforcement and $24.5 million to expand the Palmetto 800 communications system used by law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency responders across South Carolina. He will continue backing those who protect our communities while advancing commonsense policies that keep families safe.

PUBLIC SAFETY

As a lifelong Lowcountry resident, Tom has seen firsthand how rapid growth has increased pressure on our roads and infrastructure. He believes we must address congestion and make smart investments that keep pace with growth without losing the quality of life that makes the Lowcountry special.

As a member of the House Education and Public Works Committee, Tom helped advance $344 million for roads and bridges to repair infrastructure, improve bridges, address congestion, and move important transportation projects forward.

INFRASTRUCTURE

With a wife who is a public school teacher and three sons who have attended local schools, education is personal to Tom. He believes our students deserve strong schools and our teachers deserve the support and resources they need to succeed.

Tom supported raising the minimum starting teacher salary to $50,500, adding another $2,000 to the teacher salary schedule, and making new investments in classroom materials, school safety, buses, and school facilities. He remains committed to strengthening South Carolina's schools while ensuring parents have a strong voice in their children's education.
